Diocese of Mantua – Presence and fidelity
A delegation from Caritas of Mantua, with the new director, Matteo Amati, and led by Fr Luigi Milani, a regular from Croatia, visited Zagreb, Sisak and Petrinja, places devastated by the earthquakes of the years on 28-30 June 2021. 2020-21.
The diocese of Mantua has always been close to the fate of Croatia. During the war of 1991-95, the then director of Caritas, don Claudio Cipolla, now bishop of Padua, twinned the Caritas of Mantua with the village Sela kod Siska, where 6 parish priests of the neighboring parishes had taken refuge, whose churches and canons had been destroyed by bombing.
Since then, the bonds of friendship, collaboration and humanitarian support have never ceased and have been supported, in large part, for Mantua, by Fr Luigi Milani, who fully embraced the cause of the least of Croatia, and for Croatia. by Caritas of Zagreb and the Rehobot Foundation.
In the various Italian parishes, where over the years he has offered and offers his service as parish priest, Father Luigi always creates a group of volunteers who periodically visit Croatia, study its needs and take on innovative projects and pastoral activities.
This made it possible to keep the memory alive, favor continuity in collaboration and give life to new projects.
